New Year's Eve

The last week has been busy. I keep thinking every night that I will write something, but I have not got round to it.

We celebrated Christmas Eve our usual way. We went to church, then home for the meal, then presents, then dessert, then midnight mass followed by some more food and singing until 4.30 am. Loved the family time! Missed Paul!

The next few days are a blur. Probably just saw lots of people and ate way too much good food.

Yesterday our beloved dog Chaggy finally died. He had prostate cancer and was paralyzed and quite in pain in his last days. But since he was my mum's dog, she had to come to terms with his loss before she called the doctor for the injection. Me and my brother Joel dug the grave in Kernu and buried him. Since Joel has recently become a deacon in his church, he is actually authorized to do funerals now and Chaggy's funeral was the first one Joel had to officiate. It was beautiful.

Well. Now it is the New Year's Eve and I miss Paul more than ever. But time to go down to parents' for a good sendoff to the year. (That despite my Grandad's misgivings as to the way we intend to send off the old year.)

I will try to upload some photos later to see how this facility works, but maybe not until tomorrow.

Almost Christmas! :)

Last night I had one of the best Christmas concert experiences I can remember. It was White Gospel and it was so beautiful! The choir was really powerful, the soloists were excellent and the whole experience something that I would like to repeat next year when Paul is here.

Today looks too busy for my liking. Got to finish another reference I promised to have finished before Christmas. Then I will go to Mari's for her to do something with my hair. After that, there will not be much time before I have to be at school practicing the song with Meelis. Then it is off to the school Christmas concert where I will have to sing. I'm feeling really nervous about it. I don't know why I do it, but I do it every time. I know that I can't really sing well, but given the opportunity to sing, I accept the challenge. Then I am nervous before I sing, also during it and regret it afterward. And for some reason, it is rinse and repeat after that. I don't know why.

After the Christmas concert, it is Christmas party time at school. I wonder what it will turn out to be like this year. I have no idea yet, if I will stay for the afterparty or whether I will come home to sleep. I'll decide depending on how tired I am.

And... I just remembered... still got to get a present for Grandad. Need a creative idea...

Well, I better finish for now and get on with the reference I have to write.

It's weekend

Actually, the weekend is half way through already. And what a busy week it has been as well.

Wednesday night we had girls night with Riina and Solveig. It was good to sit in front of the fire, sip mulled wine and have a deep discussion about faith, the choices we make and how to keep going when the going is tough.

Later that night, I spent several hours grading papers to ensure I had an overview of everybody's grades. Kind of blew my diet, as I was trying to keep warm.

The temperatures have been absolutely incredible for December. We haven't had so cold weather in December for I do not know how long.

I have started knitting socks, ready for my little niece when she arrives. I finished the first sock yesterday evening. I felt so proud. Now knitting the second one and hoping it will look the same when i finish with it.

I can't really keep my eyes open, so writing will have to do for now.

Working Tuesday

It has been a while since I wanted to make comments on other blogs, but unless you have a blog account, it does not allow you to do that. I did have a blogger account, but I have forgotten all its details.

Also, since I am going to be travelling a lot in the next couple of months, I thought it might be nice to have a blog, so my friends can keep up with my fun experiences.

However, as the title suggests, I have a busy day working on the dictionary today, so I better stop writing and get back to work. :)
